Many of you reading this have already experienced Montusi, while some have yet to come.
Those who have been with us will attest that it is nearly impossible to convey the peace and tranquillity that permeates one’s soul upon arrival here.
Within minutes of stepping out of your vehicle the stress lifts out of your shoulders and you feel the connection of spirit to nature.
Greeted by a smile and a refreshing mocktail (a new little treat we introduced last month), the Montusi Experience begins …
Once the short tour of the Main Building is complete, you take your car to park at your free-standing suite.
You open the door and you’re immediately struck by the spectacular view from the windows out over the gardens and up to the mountains.
The spacious sitting area leads you through to the bedroom where you flop onto the enormous bed with its crisp white linen and bask in that Amphitheatre Mountain view and life just gets better!
Once settled into the suite, you take a walk around the immaculate grounds where hundreds of birds chirp happily in the indigenous gardens.
The pool beckons with its colourful loungers and you order drinks to be delivered. A dip in the chilly water offers immediate refreshment and the cold beer arrives just in time to toast the sun touching the horizon.
Later on, as you settle into your four-course, individually-plated dinner, you realise this might just be heaven on earth.
After a little nightcap, you stroll back to your suite and the starry night sky hits you with its phenomenal beauty.
You take a minute to soak in the Drakensberg at night: no car noise, instead the gentle hoot of an owl; no light pollution, just the darker silhouette of the High Berg escarpment against the inky blue sky.
As you drift off with thoughts of tomorrow’s adventures, the stillness provides a lullaby for a perfect night’s sleep.
